ImageChef is a collage app that is entirely free, and it allows the user the freedom to completely customize their creations using stickers, text, and other tools. The images created with this app are perfect for sharing through social media, and there are integrated functions that make sharing much easier.

There are a total of three template galleries that users can browse through when they first open the app. These are broken down into categories, which are All, Recent, and Featured. These main categories are further broken down into smaller, loosely defined subcategories, but those three main categories are the true system of organization. Not every template is completely customizable, either. Some will only allow custom text, and some will only allow added images. Many do allow for full customization with both text and images, and stickers can be added to any template.

After the initial template has been selected, the user will then want to add images to the template. This can be done by either tapping the image to be replaced, which will allow the user to take a brand new photo with their Android device, or the user can choose an existing photo on the device to add. The app will allow you to zoom in or out before finalizing the placement of the photo, and you can resize them to your specifications.

To edit existing text, all you have to do is tap it. The added text can be fully customized, but text within templates can only be altered for content, not style. What this essentially means is that the templates can not be edited. Users who are taking advantage of the free version will also notice a watermark is applied to completed images. There is a paid version of ImageChef that removes all the ads and watermarks, and it includes the ability to create what the app calls 'Visual Poetry Videos'.

This app is fairly limited in terms of scope and scale, but it is quite intuitive. Many of the templates are unoriginal or boring, and since they can't be edited, users must take them as they are. Because the templates can't be changed, it is a rare occurrence to get your photos to look exactly right within them. The ability to add stickers is nice, and those stickers can be edited in just about any fashion, but there aren't quite enough stickers to provide the options many users would like.

Many users have stated that this app isn't exactly stylish, and it's more for fun than anything else. The results are often cheesy because the templates are limited and can't be edited, but that doesn't mean users won't enjoy making some light-hearted collages. It is possible to personalize these collages to a certain degree, but if you want something modern or stylish, you might want to look elsewhere.
